The bottom of the gusseted bag unfolds when a sample is placed inside, allowing the bag to stand upright. Stand-up bags function just like a bottle; however, they cost less, come sterilized, are shatterproof, and use only a fraction of the storage and disposal space required by hard-sided containers.
